Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
PaceNote ("we," "us," or "our") is the developer and operator of the PaceNote mobile application for Android ("app").
2. Our core privacy commitment
PaceNote is designed to be private by default.
The app:
• Requires no account, login, or registration of any kind
• Does not collect, store, or transmit your personal information to our servers
• Does not include advertising SDKs, analytics trackers, or third-party data collection tools
• Does not sell, share, or monetise user data in any form
• Stores all your personal content — journal entries, session history, and settings — exclusively on your device
This policy is designed to be transparent, not to bury important information in legal language.
3. Information we DO NOT collect
We do not collect:
• Your name, email address, phone number, or any contact information
• Your location, GPS data, or movement patterns
• Your journal entries or voice recordings
• Your walking session history or usage habits
• Device identifiers such as IMEI, advertising ID, or Android ID
• Crash reports, diagnostics, or performance analytics
• Any biometric data
No account is required, and no data is transmitted; we have no personal data profile associated with you.
4. Information stored on your device
The following data is created and stored locally on your device only:
4.1 Journal Entries
Text and voice-transcribed journal entries written during or after walking sessions are saved in your device's local storage (Android SharedPreferences / internal app storage).
This data:
• Never leaves your device
• Is not transmitted to PaceNote or any third party
• Is not backed up to Google Drive or any cloud service unless you configure Android's backup settings to include app data (see Section 7)
• Is permanently and irrecoverably deleted when you uninstall the app
4.2 App settings and Preferences
Your selected theme, notification preferences, subscription status cache, and session configuration are stored locally. This data exists solely to provide a consistent experience across app sessions and is never transmitted.
4.3 Session history
A log of completed walking sessions (session type, date, and duration) is stored locally to display your history within the App. This log is never transmitted and is deleted upon uninstall.
5. Microphone and Voice dictation
PaceNote offers an optional voice dictation feature for journal entries. To use this feature, Android requires microphone permission.
How voice processing works:
• You explicitly grant microphone access when prompted by Android
• Speech recognition is performed entirely on-device using Android's built-in Speech Recognition API
• No audio is recorded, stored, or transmitted by PaceNote
• PaceNote does not have access to the raw audio — only the transcribed text output
• You may revoke microphone permission at any time in Android Settings → Apps → PaceNote → Permissions
If you deny microphone permission, the voice dictation feature will be unavailable, but all other App functions will work normally.
6. Google Play and Subscription data
PaceNote Pro subscriptions are managed entirely through Google Play Billing.
This means:
6.1 What Google handles
All payment processing, subscription management, billing history, and receipt generation are handled by Google, not by PaceNote. Google's Privacy Policy governs its handling of your payment and billing information.
6.2 What PaceNote receives
When you purchase or restore a Pro subscription, PaceNote receives only:
• Your subscription state: active, cancelled, expired, or in trial
• The product identifier of your subscription (monthly or annual)
We do not receive your name, email address, payment card details, billing address, or any other personally identifying information from Google Play.
6.3 Subscription verification
Subscription verification is performed locally by comparing the purchase token received from Google Play Billing against Google's on-device verification. PaceNote does not make a server-side verification call.
7. Android system backups
Android's system backup feature (Android Backup Service / Google One Backup) may, depending on your device settings, back up app data, including PaceNote's local storage, to your Google account.
This is controlled entirely by your Android device settings and your Google account backup preferences — not by PaceNote. If you do not wish your PaceNote data to be included in Android backups, you can disable this in:
• Settings → System → Backup → App data → PaceNote
We cannot control, access, or delete data stored in your personal Google backup. If you wish to delete backed-up PaceNote data, you must do so through your Google account's backup management settings.
8. Third-Party services
PaceNote integrates with the following third-party services. These services operate under their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review:
8.1 Google Play billing
Used for subscription management and in-app purchases. Governed by the Google Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy) and Google Play Terms of Service.
8.2 Android Speech Recognition API
Used for on-device voice-to-text processing within the journal feature. This is a built-in Android service. On most devices, it is powered by Google's Speech Services and is subject to Google's Privacy Policy. All processing occurs on-device, and PaceNote does not transmit audio to any server.
We do not integrate with any advertising networks, analytics platforms, social media SDKs, crash reporting tools, or data brokers.
9. Advertising
PaceNote does not display advertisements. The App does not integrate with any ad networks (such as AdMob, Meta Audience Network, or similar). No advertising identifiers (GAID / IDFA) are accessed or used.
10. Analytics and Tracking
PaceNote does not include any analytics SDKs or tracking tools.
We do not use:
• Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, or Crashlytics
• Mixpanel, Amplitude, or any behavioural analytics platform
• Facebook Pixel, Adjust, AppsFlyer, or any attribution tool
• Any crash reporting or performance monitoring service
We have no visibility into how you use the App, how often you open it, or which features you use.
11. Children's privacy
PaceNote is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because PaceNote does not collect any personal data from any user, there is no special risk to younger users beyond the general health considerations described in our Terms and Conditions.
Users between the ages of 13 and 17 should use the app with parental awareness and consent.
12. Data retention and Deletion
12.1 On-Device data
All data stored by PaceNote (journal entries, session history, preferences) resides on your device for as long as you have the app installed. This data is automatically and permanently deleted when you uninstall the app. There is no "soft delete" — uninstallation is final.
12.2 No Server-Side data
PaceNote does not collect or transmit your personal data; there is no server-side data to delete. We hold no records associated with you and have nothing to erase upon request.
12.3 Google Play purchase records
Google retains records of your subscription purchases as part of its billing system. To manage or delete these records, you must do so through your Google account at myaccount.google.com.
13. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights under applicable privacy law, including:
• The right to know what personal data is collected about you
• The right to access, correct, or delete your personal data
• The right to data portability
• The right to object to or restrict processing
• The right to withdraw consent
PaceNote does not collect, process, or store any personal data on our systems; most of these rights are satisfied by design. The only data about you is stored locally on your own device, under your full control.
If you believe we have inadvertently processed personal data and wish to make a request, contact tfcreativllc@gmail.com, and we will respond within 30 days.
14. Security
PaceNote stores all data locally on your device and transmits nothing to external servers. The primary security of your data depends on your device security — including your screen lock, device encryption, and operating system updates.
We recommend:
• Keeping your Android device up to date with security patches
• Using a strong screen lock (PIN, pattern, or biometrics)
• Enabling Android's full-disk or file-based encryption (enabled by default on modern Android devices)
If your device is lost or stolen, your PaceNote data is protected by your device's security measures. PaceNote cannot remotely wipe or access your data.
15. International users
PaceNote is developed in the United States. If you are accessing the app from outside the United States — including from the European Union, United Kingdom, or other jurisdictions with distinct privacy frameworks — please be aware that:
• PaceNote does not transfer your data internationally, because we do not collect or transmit your data at all
• Local laws (including GDPR, UK GDPR, PIPEDA, LGPD, or others) may grant you additional privacy rights
• If your local law provides rights beyond those described in Section 13, you may still exercise them by contacting us
EU/EEA users: Since we collect no personal data, PaceNote does not need to establish a legal basis under GDPR for data processing. There is no processing to justify.
16. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will:
• Update the "Effective Date" at the top of this Policy
• Display an in-app notice informing you of the change
• Post the updated Policy on our website
We encourage you to review this Policy periodically. Your continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Policy. If you do not agree with the changes, you should stop using the App and uninstall it.
